Army close combat clasp (by Rolf Michaelis)

Since 1953, the Republic of Germany has produced commemorative coins to point out special occasions. Those are circulated with different designs depicting various anniversaries or significant German events, these differing coin designs being labelled German commemorative coins. The coins are valid means of payment, however, they are actually only collector's items. Until 2001, the commemorative mintage had a value of 5 and 10 DM, since 2001, they have a value of 10 Euros
